Female Franchise Owners UK Leading Growth Across ServiceMaster

March 6, 2026/0 Comments/in News/by Emma Makings Hone

How women across ServiceMaster Ltd are building profitable local businesses, creating jobs and expanding within five established franchise brands.

Female franchise owners UK are playing a growing role in essential service sectors. Across ServiceMaster Ltd, women are building profitable businesses, employing local teams and expanding into defined territories.

On 8 March, International Women’s Day recognises the achievements of women in business. It also provides a timely opportunity to highlight the commercial impact female franchise owners UK are making across cleaning, restoration, lawn care and bookkeeping services.

ServiceMaster Ltd operates five established brands and seven franchise opportunities. These include ServiceMaster Clean across Residential, Commercial and Contract Services, ServiceMaster Restore, Merry Maids, TruGreen and Rosemary Bookkeeping. Together, these brands deliver services that households and businesses rely on every day.

Across this network, franchise owners lead structured operations supported by defined systems, national marketing and ongoing training.

Different starting points, one structured route

Many of these business owners did not begin their careers in cleaning or restoration. They moved into franchising from corporate, legal and operational roles.

Michelle became a franchise owner in March 2019 after redundancy from a corporate position. Having previously run her own business, she understood accountability and financial risk. She wanted long term security within an established franchise framework.

Today, she operates ServiceMaster Clean Residential and Commercial across Bournemouth, Poole and the New Forest, alongside ServiceMaster Restore in the same territories. By investing in proven systems, she focused on recruitment, leadership and controlled growth rather than building processes from the ground up.

A Merry Maids franchise owner in Sutton Coldfield, Becky followed a similar path. She began her career in the legal sector and joined the business in an administrative role in 2010. She and her business partner purchased the franchise in 2011. In December 2024, she became sole owner.

Running a cleaning business was not part of her original career plan. Once she understood the franchise structure, she recognised the opportunity to build a stable and commercially sustainable operation.

Measured growth and operational control

Growth has been deliberate and structured.

Since 2019, Michelle has strengthened internal systems, clarified leadership responsibilities and expanded across multiple territories. Her focus on finance, HR compliance and service standards has ensured expansion remains controlled. Marketing investment has increased visibility and lead generation across Bournemouth, Poole and the New Forest.

In Sutton Coldfield, Becky began with two cleaners and largely manual systems. Operations have since modernised. Recruitment processes are stronger. Reporting is clearer. The business now serves customers across Sutton, Lichfield, Tamworth and Walsall with improved oversight and team structure.

Both businesses have navigated Covid 19 restrictions, labour shortages and rising wage costs. Their ability to adapt during external pressure reflects disciplined leadership and the structured support available within the franchise network.

Support without isolation

Franchising combines independence with established systems.

National brand recognition builds customer trust from day one. Marketing guidance supports local lead generation. Operational frameworks reduce early stage uncertainty. The wider network provides practical advice when commercial challenges arise.

For many entering business ownership for the first time, this balance of autonomy and support reduces risk while maintaining control.

Long term success in UK franchising

For these franchise owners, success is measured through stability, profitability and team development.

The Merry Maids franchise now operates with defined systems and a capable management structure. This provides flexibility while maintaining performance.

Michelle measures success through operational control, strong customer service and the confidence to expand responsibly. Leadership responsibilities have evolved through experience, training and continued development.

A structured opportunity for future franchise owners

International Women’s Day highlights the growing presence of women in business ownership. Within ServiceMaster Ltd, that commitment extends throughout the year.

With five established brands and seven franchise opportunities, ServiceMaster Ltd provides access to essential service sectors including domestic and commercial cleaning, disaster restoration, lawn care and bookkeeping. Each franchise includes structured training, defined operational systems and ongoing commercial guidance.
